The Kiwanis Club of Perry Renames Award After Kiwanis Hero
Perry, GA: The Kiwanis Club of Perry renames the Kiwanian of the Year award for Mr. Ted Heath. Mr. Heath has been a member of the club since 1998 and served as the Secretary for many years. Before his passing in 2018, the Kiwanis Club of Perry depended greatly on his knowledge and wisdom concerning Kiwanis. Mr. Ted was the committee chair for the Scholar Athlete program, the Christmas Party, and the Prayer Breakfast for the club. He also actively supported the club’s other projects including the Fair Parade, Pancake Breakfasts, and Talent Show. His wife, Marcilla Heath, also worked hard on behalf of Kiwanis.
This award has been given since the clubs formation in 1938. Bonnie Giles, the current club President, said she understood the large step it was to rename the award, but it was the sentiment of the club members that Mr. Ted had become the patriarch to the club and that his leadership and service deserved such an award.
