    Student of the Month is back! Today, Education Committee Chair, Antonio Watkins of Central Georgia Technical College, presented Student of the Month awards at the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce. See below to get to know the recipients!
    Darby Masters
    Veterans High School

    Darby Masters is taking advantage of the opportunities that Veterans High School offers. She has been a part of the VHS FFA Chapter and livestock show team for the last 4 years as well as holding the position of vice-president of the FFA Chapter during her junior year. This year, her senior year, she has continued her support of the FFA by becoming the President of the VHS FFA Chapter. She also is currently a part of the Georgia FFA Meats Evaluation and Technology CDE team that won the State Championship. She and the rest of the team will be competing in Nationals in Indianapolis in October. According to Mr. Jeff Wilson, her Agriculture teacher and sponsor of the VHS FFA team, “Darby is a hard worker who takes time to encourage younger FFA members to do their best. She is an asset to our organization, and we are proud to have her represent Veterans FFA at the local, state, and national level.” Academically, she is an honor student with a GPA of 4.0 as well as a dual enrollment student through Middle Georgia State University to gain college credit while still in high school. She also received an Academic Achievement Award for Agriculture in her junior year.
    When not in school, she works as a lifeguard and does swimming lessons for Warner Robins Aquanauts and she works on food plots and hunts on her family farm.
    In the fall, Darby plans to attend Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College to pursue a degree in Agriculture Communications.
    Elizabeth Gentry
    The Westfield School

    Elizabeth Gentry is a senior at the Westfield School. Throughout her academic career, she has received many honors including, but not limited to, the Georgia Certificate of Merit, The Bausch & Lomb Science Award, the Furman Scholar, the Wofford College Scholar, and the Presbyterian College Junior Fellow. She is also actively involved in the Mercer University Youth Choir, and she goes on tour with them every summer. She is currently positioned to be named both the Valedictorian and the 2019-2020 Star Student at Westfield. She plans to attend The University of Georgia next fall where she will be studying science.
    Anna Walters
    Perry High School (Georgia)

    Anna Walters is the daughter of Chad and Rhonda Walters and she is a senior at Perry High School. Anna has been a member of the PHS Varsity Volleyball team for four years. Her many awards in volleyball include: Most Assists, Highest GPA, she received the Coaches award and she is currently the Team Captain.
    Anna has also been active in the PHS Theater Department where she has been a member of both cast and crew for many productions. Anna was recognized for her role in the Award winning The Terrible Infants. She was a member of the All-Star Cast and won awards at the Georgia Theater Conference and the Southeastern Region Theater Conference.
    While at Perry High, Anna has served on the student council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and currently holds a leadership position in the National Honors Society. Anna is an active member of her youth group at church where she does volunteer work and leads Wednesday morning Bible study.
    After graduation in May, Anna will attend the University of Georgia to pursue a business degree.
