  • Our Governmental Affairs Committee works to facilitate productive relationships between the Perry Chamber and related governmental agencies and partners. The Committee produces a year-round calendar of events with opportunities to inform & engage the elected leadership of Perry and Houston County. Working in partnership with these governmental agencies, our Chamber serves as the voice of the business community at the local, state, and federal levels. The committee functions to bring to the Chamber's membership an awareness & education of key issues related to business growth, public policy, and economic development.  The Governmental Affairs Committee seeks to facilitate open dialogue around issues of mutual interest and concern to the business community and our governmental partners.

Our Governmental Affairs Committee plans and/or participates in the following:

Annual Legislative Appreciation Event – Our elected officials are thanked for their service.

Houston County Business Legislative Agenda – The Perry, Peach, & Robins Regional Chambers of Commerce work together to develop, review, and endorse the legislative agenda for the Houston County business community.  This effort involves a briefing with Houston County elected officials to review the agenda prior to session. Resolutions will be written by this cooperative team on issues that they determine will benefit the Houston County business climate.

State of the Community Luncheon – Every December, the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors this event which gives the community an opportunity to review the activities of the previous year and learn of upcoming initiatives.  Committee members help to plan the event, recruit sponsors and attend the luncheon. Those participating in the dialogue are the Chairman of the Houston County Board of Commissioners, the Mayor of Perry, the Houston County School Superintendent, the President/CEO of the 21st Century Partnership, the Executive Director of the Houston County Development Authority, and an official from Robins Air Force Base.  A fee is charged for this luncheon.
