(2017) 17th Annual Camp W.I.N.G.S. (When In Need Get Support)
Heart of Georgia Hospice is hosting its 17th Annual Camp W.I.N.G.S. (When In Need Get Support), a children’s bereavement camp that is held at Camp John Hope fromNovember 3-5, 2017.
Camp is for children 6-16 who have lost a loved one; parent, sibling, grand-parent, aunt/uncle, friend, etc. The loved-one did not have to be on our Hospice services or any Hospice services to qualify. This camp is open to any child who can make it to Middle Georgia for the camp.
The best part is that this is completely FREE to the child and their family. We seek out sponsorships for each child, it takes about $150 to send each child and we usually send about 30-32 every year.
Children get to enjoy animal therapy (dogs and horses), arts and crafts, bonding, and awesome food! Every activity is geared toward remembering their loved-one(s) while also teaching them healthy ways to express grief, anger, sadness etc. The goal is that each child is given an opportunity to understand these feelings and understand that it is normal and that there is hope for the future. Our camp is staffed with licensed social workers, counselors, chaplains, and volunteers.

P.S. We are always looking for VOLUNTEERS! If you, or someone you know would like to help out in this amazing experience in any way, please call Sherry at Heart of Georgia Hospice at 478-953-5161
