Business Development Committee
Our Business Development Committee supports established business and industry members and encourages economic and business development and growth in the Perry area.
This committee is responsible for the following programs and projects:
Business Recruitment, Development, Retention and Expansion – Support businesses newly recruited to the Perry area and work to expand existing businesses through the following:
- Recognize ‘Business of the Month’ recipients to honor existing businesses and their contributions to the community. Those members receiving this award throughout the year will then be eligible for the Business of the Year award given at the Annual Meeting.
- Maintain membership in the International Council of Shopping Centers and utilize the association’s resources to better prepare the Perry area for new businesses.
- Use the state-awarded Entrepreneurial Friendly and Camera Ready Community designations to market the Perry area.
Business Development Seminars/Workshops – Establish annual training needs of the business community to provide one workshop throughout the year.
Behind the Scenes Tours - Provides one opportunity during the year for Chamber members to have the unique experience of touring behind the scenes of local industry.
Developer Tours/Dinners – Support the Houston County Development Authority when it hosts state economic developers for tours of our existing industry and infrastructure in Houston County, showcasing the county and what we have to offer prospective business and industry.
Business Milestones – On a member's milestone anniversary, such as 10 year, 20 year, etc., the Chamber will work with the business to create awareness and to assist in some form of celebration if desired. For those businesses that do not have a storefront in Perry, a celebration can be held at the Perry Welcome Center. The Board of Directors, City Elected Officials, Dogwood Queens, Perry Diplomats, and Chamber members may be invited.
Business Advocacy - Work in conjunction with the Governmental Affairs Committee to keep the chamber membership informed of local and state legislative issues impacting Perry area businesses.
Work Ready – Provide support to the Houston County Work Ready initiative and use the state-awarded designation of Certified Work Ready Community of Excellence to market the Perry area.
